Help us get to the Arizona Dragon Boat Festival!
2/23 Update - Message from the team: We are so thankful for the immense support that we have received from our friends, family, and alumni! We have surpassed our original goal of $5,000 to cover our expenses for the Arizona Dragon Boat Festival. With more than a month left in our campaign and an amazing amount of support still pouring in, we have decided to increase our goal to $10,000. Our intention is to use the additional $5,000 towards travel expenses for other upcoming events/competitions, such as our race in Long Beach in April, and in San Francisco in the fall, as well as equipment needs.
One of our key goals is to make our sport more well known and accessible to students of all different financial backgrounds, so all donations will help remove barriers towards participation by helping us fund our travel costs to our races and provide better equipment for our members to help our team’s training. Thank you again for continuing to support the UC San Diego Dragon Boat Team!

Mere seconds are what determines these California collegiate dragon boat competitions. At the annual California Dragon Boat Association (CDBA) College Cup, our team grazed the glory of gold by 0.08 seconds and placed 2nd against the traditionally dominant team, UC Berkeley. A feat in disguise, this is actually UC San Diego's first time placing in this competition since 2013. So at an even bigger festival with even more teams, we plan to rebound and represent UC San Diego at the Arizona Dragon Boat Festival in Tempe (March 25-26).
The money raised will go towards offsetting out-of-pocket expenses such as transportation and lodging cost that members have to pay on top of the budgeted yearly dues and race fees. To make this trip more affordable for our paddlers, we’re reaching out to alumni, friends, family, and supporters of the team to help out in any way they can!
