Support 40 Years of Outdoor Fun
For 40 years, Outback Adventures has helped students thrive on campus and in the backcountry through programs like Wilderness Orientation. Whether they are canoeing on the Colorado River or backpacking over mountain passes, the Wilderness Orientation (WO) program helps incoming students start their Triton journey with a deep support network of friends and a powerful sense of what they can achieve through often difficult environmental conditions and challenging expedition goals.
While Outback Adventures’ programs like WO are offered to students at subsidized rates to make them more accessible, financial barriers still exist and have historically impacted underrepresented students the most. In 2019, we launched the Adventure Initiative with the goal of reducing these barriers to participation and expanding access to our programming. Outdoor spaces are for everyone and every student benefits when our group participation is more diverse.
Donations to the Adventure Initiative will help ensure all students have access to Wilderness Orientation and/or guide development training that will build confidence, develop leadership skills, and create a sense of belonging at UC San Diego.
After more than a year of virtual learning and isolation, our students are eager for the opportunity to laugh, connect, and be present with one another in the natural world. This is a key reason why expanding access to our programming is more important than ever.
In honor of Outback Adventures’ 40th Anniversary, please consider making a gift to the Adventure Initiative today and help provide transformational outdoor experiences to the next generation of Tritons.
