Take the UCSD Dance Team to Nationals!
Established in the 1990s, the UC San Diego Dance Team is the official Division 1 (D1) program for UC San Diego, performing at Athletics games, appearing at signature campus events, and serving various organizations throughout San Diego county. In addition, our team represents UC San Diego nationally at the most prestigious collegiate dance competitions. We attend UDA College Nationals in Orlando, Florida each January as well as USA Collegiate Championships in Anaheim, California each February.
Following the university’s transition into D1 at the NCAA level in 2020, our team began competing at that level as well. Despite the sudden change, our team has made history two years in a row. In 2022, we debuted as a D1 Team at USA Collegiate Championships and received 3rd in Pom and 4th in Jazz. Those are the highest placements in our team history! In 2023, our team returned to UDA College Nationals after being unable to compete for 3 years due to the pandemic. We competed for the first time in the D1 category there as well. Not only did our team accomplish our goal of being finalists in Pom and Jazz, but we became nationally ranked in both categories!
After accomplishing so much in our first two years as a D1 program, our team has our sights set high for the future and we need your help. While we are competing at the highest level, we are still primarily a student-led and student funded program. Planning to return to both UDA and USA in the 2023-2024 season, and with the increase in costs to travel, this will not be possible without the generosity of our supporters. Juggling rigorous majors and extracurriculars, the UCSD Dance Team members rely on the support of YOU, our Triton family, to pursue their love for dance and represent UC San Diego with pride. This team of 20 academically driven and passionate athletes work hard to create a sense of belonging and Triton pride throughout campus and SD community, and your generosity will alleviate the stress and financial burden associated with our competitions. The UDA College Nationals will be January 12-14th at the Walt Disney World Resort and we hope you will consider making a gift of any size to help us build momentum and make team history once more!
