The Next Generation of Health Care
UC San Diego’s three health professional schools—UC San Diego School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the new Wertheim School of Public Health and Longevity Science—were integral in San Diego’s management of the health crisis caused by COVID-19. Our health care professionals in training volunteered numerous hours at vaccine clinics, provided resources for the homeless, organized PPE donation drives and provided home care services for the elderly isolated during quarantine. In short, our students were inspiring and rose to the challenge of what their future careers will hold. However, the cost of pursuing a graduate degree in the health sciences can be prohibitive for many looking to give back to their community and foster a healthier world for all. Gifts to scholarships provide crucial financial support for students looking to make a difference. Invest in the future of health care and make a degree possible for aspiring health care professionals today.
Also, through the Chancellor’s Scholarship and Fellowship Challenge, Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla will provide a $1 match per $2 of gift for eligible gifts to health-related professional school scholarships through the close of the Campaign for UC San Diego on June 30, 2022. This gives your gift an even greater impact to attract and retain a student community at UC San Diego that is talented, ambitious, curious, inclusive and reflective of California’s diversity.
Your support will help future health leaders, like pharmacy student Georges Eid. “I feel a strong sense of belonging at UC San Diego. Everyone at Skaggs School of Pharmacy is very welcoming and pushes me to progress and become the best version of myself. Thank you for putting your investment in our education. This contribution will impact many students’ lives. It will help students like me who have a dream, but are struggling financially and did not believe that they could pursue pharmacy school. It is just wonderful to see so many students get the chance to do something that they may not have been able to do before. I promise that one day when I become a successful pharmacist, I will follow in your footsteps and give other students opportunities to pursue their dreams,” said Georges.
