The UC San Diego Men’s and Women’s Basketball team is looking to expand their playing and cultural experiences by heading on a foreign tour in August of 2023. With the goal of growing individually, athletically and as a team, Triton Men’s and Women’s Basketball has their sights set on Italy. This nine-day trip will include visiting Rome, Florence, Lake Como and Venice. Not only will the team play four games against high-powered teams, they will be able to enjoy cultural experiences throughout their time, including visit the Vatican and taking a cooking class in Verona.

The Reason and Benefits to Give Today

A collegiate athletic foreign tour often sets the table for a successful season. Not only does the team receive additional days of practice for the season, but are also given an opportunity to travel internationally - an experience many of them might not otherwise have. Both the men’s team and women’s team will learn how to work together off the court and to bond as a unit. Additionally, the trip will acclimate new teammates while strengthening the connectivity of the returning group. It gives the scholar-athletes an opportunity to get to know their coaches off the court while being immersed in a new culture through community service projects and local activities. • Your support will sponsor a guided bike tour through Bologna for one scholar-athlete.

$50 – Vatican Excursion 

• Your support will sponsor a day excursion to the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica for one scholar-athlete.

$75 – Verona Food Tasting and Cooking Class

• Your support will sponsor a Verona food tasting and cooking class experience for one scholar-athlete.

$125 – Lodging

• Your support will sponsor one night of hotel stay for a scholar-athlete.

$500 – Meal Package  

• Your support will sponsor one scholar-athlete’s meals for the entire trip. 

$1,000 – Team Excursion

• Your support will send the whole team on a day excursion.

$1,600 – Roundtrip Airfare 

• Your support will sponsor one scholar-athletes’ roundtrip ticket to Italy.

$2,500 - Half Tour Sponsorship  

• Your support will sponsor a scholar-athlete for half of the foreign tour. 

5,000– Full Tour Sponsorship 

• Your support will sponsor a scholar-athlete for the entire foreign tour.
