UC San Diego Women’s Soccer Costa Rica Foreign Tour 2024
UC San Diego athletics has consistently prepared its scholar-athletes to have experiences that have a lasting impact on their lives and help shape them into becoming national and international leaders. As scholar-athletes, studying abroad is highly challenging based on the multiple demands they face balancing both academic and athletic requirements. One of our priorities is to help our scholar-athletes explore various cultures, environments, and traditions through real-world experiences designed to promote cross-cultural understanding and awareness.
From June 20 - 28, the women’s soccer team will embark on a foreign tour to Costa Rica. During the trip, the team will visit San Jose, Arenal Volcano, and Los Suenos while also getting the opportunity to play against international club teams, which will help prepare them for the upcoming season. Although there are benefits to extra practices and competitions, our focus is on giving the scholar-athletes the opportunity to experience different cultures, languages, and foods. More important, however, are the opportunities the scholar-athletes have to bond with each other, to connect with international athletes in their sport, to experience firsthand the passion for their sport that exists around the world, and to feel a part of the global athletics community.
The foreign tour will cost approximately $120,000, including round-trip airfare, ground transportation, lodging, meals, a tour guide, sightseeing, and costs associated with practice and competition against local teams. We have secured a significant portion of funding for the trip but still seek to raise the full amount.
Gifts of $1,000 and above are eligible to leave their legacy within the history of UC San Diego Soccer. A $1,000 gift will allow you to have your name on a seat of your choosing at the soccer stadium.
