2018 Triton Cross Country Altitude Training Camp
Cross Country Altitude Training Camp History
UC San Diego Cross Country student-athletes have been visiting Mammoth Lakes for altitude training since 1992, an idea originally started by former long-time Triton head coach Ted Van Arsdale. For over 20 years Triton student-athletes have experienced an all-encompassing camp entailing of personally and athletically growth, team bonding, building communication skills and making memories that will last for a lifetime. Altitude Training Camp at Mammoth Lakes will forever hold a special place in the hearts of former Triton student-athletes. Help us continue this Triton tradition in making the altitude training camp possible for current student-athletes.
The Reason and Benefits to Give Today
With travel costs rising every year, it has been increasingly more difficult to fully fund altitude training camp at Mammoth Lakes. Over the past ten years, we have seen the cost of camp double, putting a strain on our budget and potentially taking away competitive opportunities later in the season.
By helping to send a cross country student-athlete to camp, you will personally have an immediate, direct and profound impact on the experience the Triton student-athlete has while at UC San Diego. Like many Tritons who have experienced altitude training camp before them, you will be offering a student-athlete the chance to learn life lessons taught through sport, a chance to grow personally and athletically, and a chance to bond with their teammates, forming a high caliber, nationally ranked team. This gift will go well beyond their time at camp; it will be a memory and experience they will cherish years after they receive their diploma.
