According to Athletes for Hope, approximately 46.6 million adults in the U.S. are living with mental illness. 33% of all college students experience depression, anxiety, or other mental health conditions, and of that percentage, only 30% seek the help they need. In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month, UC San Diego scholar-athletes, along with UC San Diego’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), would like to help bring awareness to and show support for the vast number of students, especially within our local campus community, struggling with mental health by holding our first ever fundraiser for CAPS.
All gifts received will go directly to CAPS, which serves our students here at UC San Diego. All students have access to CAPS for counseling, workshops, community forums, outreach programs and consultations. CAPS continues to positively impact scholar-athletes in particular by providing vital resources that contribute greatly to our athletic and academic development. Scholar-athletes are incredibly grateful to have CAPS as one of our biggest supporters, and we hope to give back to the program that plays a significant role in our success with this fundraiser.
This year, UC San Diego scholar-athletes will be doing a virtual fundraiser that aims to increase our gifts by making it easier for students, alumni, and community members to give. By giving today, your gifts will impact CAPS by bringing awareness to their services, supporting those who are seeking help with their mental health, and increasing the amount of resources CAPS is able to offer our students.
Help us reach our goal of $750 and give back to our UC San Diego community by bringing awareness to and supporting those struggling with mental health this Mental Health Awareness Month!
