Breath of Hope 5K Walk
Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health and San Diego Breath of Hope will come together for the 9th Annual Breath of Hope Lung Cancer 5K Walk on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Breath of Hope honors lung cancer patients; survivors; and their support networks of doctors, nurses, family and friends. Since its first event, Breath of Hope has raised more than $860,000. I invite you to join us in achieving this year’s goal of raising $100,000.
Breath of Hope not only raises funds, but also awareness and support. Kathleen Larson, Mike Stevens and Maria Enriquez created this event in 2009, in part to help dispel the misconceptions surrounding lung cancer: approximately 15 percent of all lung cancer cases occur in nonsmokers. This disease does not discriminate, and it kills 1.3 million people annually — more than breast, prostate and pancreatic cancers combined. We want to change this sobering reality. Breath of Hope supports those individuals battling lung cancer and celebrates the lives of people who have lost their fight — people like Maria Enriquez and Mike Stevens. By donating to Breath of Hope, you can join more than a thousand participants in supporting Moores Cancer Center’s leading-edge efforts to end lung cancer.
Proceeds benefit lung cancer research at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health. Step by step, we are moving forward in the fight against lung cancer. Thank you for walking with us.
