“I can honestly say I don't know if I would have made it through UC San Diego without the LGBT Resource Center, and it all started at Q Camp.” - Alum, ’08
What is Q Camp?
Q Camp is UC San Diego’s orientation program for incoming lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender queer (LGBTQ) students. This powerful program welcomes new students and helps them make connections with one another and with campus resources in support of equity, diversity, and inclusion. At Q Camp, students have the opportunity to ask questions - and get answers - about UC San Diego LGBT life, leadership opportunities, and resources on and off campus.
Why is it important?
Q Camp acts as a launch pad for many of our students who go on to become student leaders in our own LGBT organizations on campus and in organizations across the nation. This is because at Q Camp, we work to cultivate a greater sense of belonging for our students-- an important factor researchers have identified in developing socially responsible leaders. Q Camp kicks it all off!
How Can I Help?
We want to raise $5000 to fully fund Q Camp 2015. The funds raised will allow the LGBT Resource Center to provide meals, supplies, literature, and programming for 100 Q Camp attendees. Your gift in any amount will help ensure the accessibility and diversity of this critical and empowering student experience. Please give today and share using the hashtag #qcamp to help us get the word out about this Q Campaign!
